"St. Helens is a very special community to live in. I grew up here and I enjoyed the opportunities that my family had on the Columbia River. We waterskiied on the river and up the slough. We also did a lot of Salmon and Steelhead fishing, and it seemed that our father knew where to go and how to catch those fish, but my remembrance of the fishing is so different now and that is sad. It is difficult for me to see the fishermen and women not be able to fish the entire season; the rules have made it almost impossible to enjoy the once love sport and spending time with family. Growing up in St. Helens, Oregon should be a place to hold onto memories. " -- Growing up in St. Helens
